Half yearly update!!

Wow it really has been a while since I last posted.. a lot has happened since December. I got a new job, bought an apartment, renovated it,  boyfriend proposed and am now engaged... Everything is happening!

Even though I tried to keep on top of it all by taking a photo a day on my phone blog, everything is really happening too fast for me to keep track of.

But hmm things that are on my mind at 12:02 AM 10/05/2012...

• Reading is evil - Recent weeks I've been extremely addicted to reading again. I signed up to Goodreads and am now keeping track of all the books I'm going through. It sounds strange but I'm actually trying to quit reading.. it is the most time consuming hobby ever! I am not capable of picking up a book and putting it down until it's finished, which means that after work, dinner and TV or what not.. I pick up a book that I intend to start on and don't end up sleeping until 5AM which REALLY screws me over the next day. This stupid habit will be the death of me because I end up wanting to read around the same time the next evening.. and the vicious cycle repeats.
• Diablo 3 is coming out in 5 days time!!!  I'm actually very excited about this as it literally means that the time I spend playing games will not be wasted! At least this will be a legitimate way of earning some small cash on the side. Honestly if it wasn't for the real money AH, I wouldn't even start this... The only character that I would only consider playing from playing beta is witch doctor.. it just seems to be OP compared to all the other classes (at least in beta). On a side note.. Guild Wars 2 character creation looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Being a girl really makes you a sucker for these kind of features!!!!!
• AKB0048 is AKB48's new anime series. I started watching this last week and as much as I thought that it would suck, it's predictable and ridiculous... I loved it and even teared up on several occasions in the very first episode. So ridiculously retarded of me. Mayu Watanabe is a seiyuu in this acting as Chieri, and apparently someone else voice acts as Mayuyu (of AKB48) in the anime. Mayuyu is really really cute, but my favourite is still Tomochin >.<

• CT's Surprise Birthday - Jeff organised this like over a month ago, and it was really sweet. Even though she has a CA exam this week, he made sure her friends spent a couple of hours with her on her birthday. I never thought surprise parties eve turn out like they do in movies.. but it was really awesome! Being discreet didn't work too well though, because all us attendees were coming through the door to greet her, the door being locked and me trying to force the door down didn't help..  I think she enjoyed the pink helium balloons the most out of everything. XD

• $70 Million OZLotto - I think lotto is great once in a while.. just for the fact that it allows you to dream for a few hours. I don't like buying it too far in advance as you probably end up getting disappointed. But a few hours ahead.. you can think of all the things you can do/plan/buy/go if you had the money.   This draw was 2 days ago on Tuesday. Although this time as the jackpot was so huge, by the time I got to the newsagent, the line of people waiting to buy a ticket went to the entrance of the mall! I went to the counter to grab a card to fill in a set of numbers that my bf told me to pick and was VERY disappointed when they said that there are no more self pick cards left, and only automatic generated ones. You see, I normally would not give a shit if I picked or the machine picked, BUT, as my bf has already presented me with sets of numbers.. if I didn't pick them and one of the sets ended up winning, I think I may just end my life there (the lifetime of regret would KILL me). So.. whilst I was on the phone trying to call him to tell him that I'm going to delete the set of numbers he sent, I decided to just buy a megapick automatic ticket for the hell of it. OK let me just say now I did not win anything ($15 win doesn't even cover the cost of the ticket), but I was SO happy that day for an entirely different reason! When I got to the counter to buy the megapick from the nice man (my nationality) that I buy my bus tickets from and have nice short chats with, I casually asked if he knows any other newsagents in the city that had some self pick cards left -- he then spoke in my dialect and told me that he had 3 cards left and that I can have one! I was soooooooooo goddamn relieved that my lifetime of regret can now be avoided that I felt like I just won the lotto. Anyways.. the bus trip home and that night before the draw.. lots of nice things to do if I get rich went through my head, and when I didn't win, I was again relieved that I did not have to actually pick one out of all the nice options that I laid out for myself in my head. WOW this is literally the ultimate first world problem.
• Reconnected with old bestie - Haven't spoken to Karen for the longest time before this month.. and recently I've been seeing her at least once a week. Our friendship is really like a relationship, but I'm glad we're now reconnecting because at one point in my life she was my best friend.. and to drift away from someone that you felt that way towards is a very sad thing even though by the time you both have separated, the feeling has almost dissipated. SO WHAT BETTER WAY TO REBOND THAN TO TAKE LUVOS, as well as work lunching, shopping, sleepovers and doing other girly shiz.

I should go shower and sleep now otherwise I'll get to work late tomorrow... It's my colleague's last day tomorrow before she goes back to Malaysia. I'm really really sad and I know I'll miss her lots.. I baked a cute cake for her which I think will taste shit because I overbaked it, but it's decorated cutely so I'll still make her eat it.

Eguichi Aimi and AKB48

I used to think Morning Musume had too many members for a girl band... years later, AKB48 is created..

Lately I've been extremely obsessed with this girl group. They managed to sell 1 million copies of their single on the first day of release which broke a 15 year record! Their songs are mediocre but catchy, although singing is not how they became so popular. It's the drama. Firstly, there are too many members. The picture above is just of AKB48, one group out of the 3 group franchise consisting of AKB48, SKE48 and NMB48.

I first got hooked when I heard that they had a reality TV game show named "AKBingo" where the you see all the cute girls do funny and interesting things. They would eat fried lizards, get cream pied in the face, dress up in moe costumes to seduce 50 year old men, be portrayed as a slut, bitch about each other whilst being hooked onto lie detectors and such, doing all this whilst maintaining a cute image.

One of the girls who graduated from the idol group has changed careers and is now doing AV. Rina Nakanishi (now as Riko Yamaguchi) started attracting more attention after she decided to become a porn star. What I found interesting was that her sister is following in her footsteps and is now also doing porn under the alias Riku Yamaguchi.

A fan bought US$109,000 worth of CDs (5,500) just to promote Yuko Oshima (one of the favorites) as the most popular girl in the group. Each CD allows you to vote for your favorite member. The most popular girl gets to be on the center of most of the singles, commercials and other acts. Seriously with that amount of money you can probably rent her to be your maid for a couple of days. Let's not forget that the majority of the AKB girls are under 18. Even after all his efforts, on June 9 2011, in the 3rd Senbatsu Election results, Maeda Atsuko still ended up winning by a 17,000 vote difference.

Very recently, a new girl who apparently auditioned for NMB48, joined the frontlines of AKB48. Her name is Aimi Eguchi and Akimoto Yasushi, the founder of the AKB franchise describes her as the reason AKB48 was created - to "meet the heroine of the new age". So before Aimi has even been introduced to all the members in AKB or even participate in any live shows or PVs, she was placed front and center in the Glico ad below and on the front cover of Weekly Playboy.

How did Aimi get promoted so quickly? It's because many think that she is not real. I for one think that she is definitely not real. If she was real, then her promo photos have been heavily photoshopped because the photos of her are not even proportional. In the Glico ad, her eyes do not change in shape or blink, in her photos her chin is shaped like how one's chin would be shaped if their mouth was closed, whilst her mouth is wide open. There are also clues in her profile that can be found on the Glico website. The Glico product she was created to promote is called "Ezaki Guriko hitokuChi saizu Aisu no Mi" and her birthday February 11 is the date Glico was founded in 1922.

Speculation is that she was created using the faces of members, Maeda Atsuko, Oshima Yuko, Shinoda Mariko, Itano Tomomi, Takahashi Minami and Watanabe Mayu. But personally I think any one of those girls alone looks better than this CG creation.

Just as a final note, AKB48 has also donated more money to the Japan earthquake relief than either Sony or Nintendo!!♥ Anywayyyys.. I need to finish this post with my favorite, Tomomi Itano.

Online shopping

So.. some items I bought from online a month ago finally arrived today!

Grey trench, dark brown jacket, dark pink skirt, beige pants, pleated black skirt and a frilly white bikini.

Since its winter I stocked up on winter work clothes, but the bikini was just way way way too cute. Surprisingly all the clothes fit perfectly and look good, but the quality is SO terrible! I guess you can't have everything...

Also, I bought another 4 pairs of contacts, 2 are for my friend. Contacts are probably just as important to me as makeup. I always get the 1 year ones because my eyes don't seem to dry out even though I wear them everyday. So this time I got Hyper size brown and Barbie super nudy grey.. can't wait to try them on!!

The Mimo 1 tone diamond brown my friend ordered is gorgeous, I'll definitely get that next time I order.
